Ownership/Stewardship and Confidence Intervals

Lesson Study Resources

Description: Students work in small groups of 3-5 to select a topic that can serve as the basis for statistical estimation, and that is meaningful to them or their community.  Students then identify a corresponding parameter of interest, collect data related to their chosen topic, construct a confidence interval to estimate the parameter of interest, and then interpret the interval in context of their topic and with an emphasis on the impact of this estimation on self or community.

When and Where: CSU cross-campus team, 2025–26

Team members: Martha Shott, Sonoma State (facilitator); Issa Tahir Bachar, San Jose State University; Wai Tak Chan, Cal Poly Pomona; Rodrigo Gaitan, Sonoma State University
